Toyota Forklifts Now Include Telematics
by Shawn McQuary, on January 3, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Managers are frequently asked to do more with less...while maintaining safety and productivity. It’s a tall order, especially in fast-paced industries. That’s why many managers rely on telematics to:
- Ensure the fleet operates at peak performance
- Establish and maintain a culture of safety
- Prevent down time
Toyota, the world’s #1 forklift, now includes telematics with its most popular material handling equipment. From walkies and riders to the Large IC Pneumatic forklift, nearly every forklift has telematics built in.
Below is a list of Toyota equipment that comes with a telematics unit and an overview of Toyota’s telematics system (MyInsights). Don’t forget, if you buy or lease new equipment and put it into service before the end of the year, you can take advantage of the Section 179 tax deduction.
Toyota Products With Built-In Telematics
Toyota forklifts are known for their reliability and innovative safety features. So it’s no surprise Toyota is the first and only manufacturer to include telematics with their most popular material handling equipment, including the:
- Standup Rider
- 3-Wheel Electric
- Core Electric Forklift
- Core IC Cushion/Pneumatic Forklift
- Mid/Large IC Pneumatic Forklift
- Center-Control Rider
- End-Controlled Rider
- Large Walkies
- Reach Truck
- Order Picker
- Tuggers (Tow Tractors)
Have a mix of equipment from different manufacturers? No worries. Mid Columbia Forklift and MidCo Material Handling can help you set up a forklift telematics solution that works seamlessly with all your equipment.
Toyota’s Forklift Telematics System: MyInsights
The units listed above come with a telematics data handling unit that transmits information from the equipment’s sensors to MyInsights via a 4-in-1 antenna. The standard configuration allows you to:
- Check key hours remotely
- Locate equipment using GPS
- Receive error code notifications
- Get impact alerts*
* Thresholds are customizable to minimize unwarranted alerts
Impact notifications and fault codes can be sent directly to MidColumbia Forklift’s service department. We’ll work with your team to arrange a service call (if necessary).
MyInsights integrates with the (free) MyToyota Customer Portal. The web-based platform allows you to check on your fleet and make data-driven decisions anytime, anywhere you have an internet connection.
Forklift Telematics Help You Work Smarter, Not Harder
Telematics can help you keep an eye on the ball, even when you have multiple balls in the air. With MyInsights or other forklift telematics system, you can:
- Track your equipment
- View key hours remotely
- Optimize your fleet
- Plan maintenance more efficiently
- Make more data-driven decisions
Questions? We’re here to help. The experts at Mid Columbia Forklift and MidCo Material Handling can help you choose the best forklift (or telematics system) for your operational needs and budget.
Want to take advantage of the Section 179 tax deduction? Don’t delay. The equipment must be put into service before 11:59 pm on December 31st.
