Why CombiLift Forklifts Are Rock Solid for the Concrete Industry

Written by Mark Wilson | July 11, 2025 at 1:25 PM

Not everything in life fits neatly onto standard pallets.

That would make the daily grind so much easier, but unfortunately, life is messy and full of challenges that demand creative solutions. The concrete industry is a testament to that. Pre-cast concrete comes in all shapes and sizes, very few of which lend themselves to traditional palletization. That’s why concrete fabrication companies have to think outside the box.

Luckily, CombiLift excels at creative solutions.

Compared to standard forklifts, CombiLift designs are a whole different beast. Their innovative approach to material handling makes them perfect for any industry with atypical needs, just like the concrete industry.

Read on to learn why CombiLift forklifts are ideal for the concrete fabrication industry and which models are rock solid for pre-cast concrete.

Benefits of CombiLift Forklifts for the Concrete Industry

Pre-cast concrete presents unique challenges and takes a special kind of forklift for transportation.

Heavy-Duty Lifting

Calling concrete heavy might be so obvious that it should go without saying.

Yet, its density and weight are significant hurdles to moving pre-cast concrete efficiently. Not every forklift can manage it. That kind of weight per load requires serious strength. Standard forklifts are generally ill-equipped to handle the strain, forcing operators to make many smaller, less efficient trips, or push beyond the capacity boundaries of equipment risking injury to personnel or damage to equipment. However, CombiLift designs focus on heavy-duty applications, lifting loads up to 180,000 lbs. This power makes them perfect for the concrete industry.

Whether you’re moving concrete pipes, slabs, or other pre-cast products, there’s a CombiLift configuration to meet your weight requirements.

Designed for Oversized Loads

Pre-cast concrete products come in a wide range of irregular shapes.

Many of these are oversized, which can cause difficulties. With traditional forklifts, heavy, bulky, or awkward loads pose serious logistical concerns. Solving these challenges often requires operators to travel with loads aloft or use more than one forklift.

Not so with CombiLifts.

Their designs handle heavy-duty lifting and long, irregular loads with ease and grace. CombiLift's signature four-way movement provides unmatched maneuverability. This ability to move in four directions enables these fork trucks to transport long goods, oversized products, or palletized materials with a single, convenient machine.

The versatility of CombiLift forklifts makes them indispensable for the concrete fabrication industry.

Up to 100% Improvement in Storage Space

With long loads, traditional forklifts are a space killer.

A standard forklift drives into an aisle and turns to face the product it wants to retrieve. When it lifts a long load, the effective width of the forklift increases, requiring more turning space to maneuver safely. This requirement forces many operations to lose precious storage space to wide aisles.

CombiLift’s four-way movement eliminates that wasted space.

A CombiLift forklift drives into an aisle and then switches to lateral movement to approach the desired product. No turning required. Then, it lifts the product, pulls back from the racking, and switches back to forward movement to drive out of the aisle.

Consequently, these forklifts are compatible with narrow aisles, saving you valuable space.

CombiLift Options for Pre-Cast Concrete

Despite the versatility and customization options of CombiLifts, each model possesses unique strengths.

CombiLift Multidirectional Forklifts C-Series

Available in diesel, LP or electric, the CombiLift C-Series is effectively three forklifts in one.

It functions as a narrow aisle, counterbalance, and sideloader forklift with no change in configuration. This all-weather, indoor/outdoor forklift features one of the safest four-way movement designs on the market. Its low center of gravity and integrated platform create an extremely stable base for even long and bulky loads. Stability combined with a lifting weight of up to 50,000 lbs makes this workhorse a favorite among CombiLift models.

Better still, this series is highly customizable to ensure you get the perfect forklift for your application.

CombiLift SC

The COMBI-SC takes mobility to the next level.

This straddle carrier comes with six drive modes:

  • Front wheel drive steering
  • Rear wheel drive steering
  • Four-wheel drive steering
  • Crab-wise steering
  • Carousel steering
  • Multidirectional movement

These drive modes, paired with the three-wheel design, make these straddle carriers incredibly nimble. Moreover, the SC is perfect for organizations that want to minimize aisle space. Since the design literally straddles products, the wheels are the only consideration when planning aisle width. In fact, this model can operate comfortably within aisles of five feet two inches wide. Combine these features with 360° vision, rough terrain and ramp capable, remote control operation and the ability to highly customize each unit, there is nothing else that stacks up to the CombiLift SC.

Finally, the SC can flat-pack for easy shipment to any construction or job site.

CombiLift MG

For huge and awkward loads, the COMBI-MG reigns supreme.

This mobile gantry features the same six drive modes as the COMBI-SC, making it just as agile. This maneuverability enhances the precision for which the MG is renowned. Its telescopic function allows it to place loads on trailers easily or to reduce its profile to better fit through low doorways. Additionally, the side-shifters allow the operator to effortlessly position even the largest loads, all while using the remote control from a safe distance.

When your product is too large for a single mobile gantry, the COMBI-MG can operate in tandem mode, allowing multiple machines to work as one.

CombiLift SPI

Designed specifically for pre-cast concrete, the COMBI-SPI is the latest addition to the CombiLift family.

This self-propelled inloader has a 33-ton capacity compatible with standard inloader pallets. The side-facing cab offers improved visibility no matter what direction the inloader moves. The supports along the chassis are completely adjustable. They can move 180 degrees laterally for the ideal support angle. Additionally, the operator can move them horizontally from within the cab—either independently or together—to ensure total support for oversized loads.

While the COMBI-SPI doesn’t have true four-way movement, it does feature a very tight turning radius.
