The global pandemic highlighted the need to maintain clean facilities for the health and safety of everyone. With studies published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing that many viruses can be easily spread on workers’ shoes, your warehouse disinfection plan is one of the greatest assets or threats to your business today.

With the right equipment and plan execution, the combination of high-temperature water and disinfectant sprays can effectively kill most viruses, like the SARS-COV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Read on to see how you can best combat illness and maintain a safe operation for your staff and clients.

Floor Scrubber Best Practices

To combat the spread of viruses and disease, it is not enough to simply run your floor scrubbers as usual. The following best practices are recommended to ensure your cleaning routine is safe and effective:

  • Floor scrubbers should work in passes with at least 2 inches of overlap to ensure proper coverage of all surfaces in approved disinfectant.
  • Disinfectant applications should be left on surfaces for at least 10 minutes before they are “picked up” by scrubbers. This is the minimum amount of time needed for the active chemicals to kill viruses like SARS-COV-2.
  • A disinfectant wand should be used to apply disinfectant to other surfaces such as safety railings in high traffic areas. These surfaces can air dry and still meet the standards needed to kill most endemic viruses.

Along with these best practices, a robust and regularly scheduled warehouse cleaning plan should be in place to mitigate risks for your workers. If you need help developing a plan that fits your business needs, you can buy or lease disinfecting equipment by contacting us. Our team is here to help.
